Karaoke was my gateway drug to the Dumpsta
Players. First I was just showing up occasionally to
rock the Neneh Cherry, Def Leppard and Styx. In short order I found myself attending weekly,
rehearsing songs in the shower and on SEPTA. It was there I met
Ricky and Rich. After that, there was no turning back. In some ways the Dumpsta was a natural progression from karaoke, especially for someone whose first career ambition was to be a Solid Gold Dancer.
I never knew how much I needed to be a ham until I started doing it monthly with the Dumpstas. I've proudly been in almost every show since May 2002, regularly satisfying DJ K-Tell's lascivious guitar solo or interpretive dance needs. I like to lend my thrifting skills to making every Dumpsta look his or her trashiest, frequently stage manage, and I am also one of the company drag kings of choice in Lisa's absence.
